Being a Specialist Arts College
Being a Specialist Arts College is central to our ethos and vision as a school. After successful re-designation in 2009 we strive for excellence in our role as an Arts College.
Our students benefit from an enriched curriculum in which lifelong personal and work skills are developed. We place an emphasis on developing well-rounded, confident, young people through creative learning in all subjects. The Performing Arts contribute strongly to the development of creativity, teamwork, critical reflection, constant improvement and resourcefulness. Every student will improve life skills of presentation, self-confidence and self-esteem within the creative and performing arts.
In partnership with local primary schools we develop a programme of performing arts development to strengthen the experience of Dance, Music and Drama in all our partner schools. Students from Hextable School are developing their leadership skills through working in primary schools on these projects. In our local Specialist Schools Network (WHS) each school is contributing its specialism to enrich the curriculum in Partner Secondary Schools.
In the wider community we are seeking to extend our contribution to the network of Specialist Schools Community Programmes through projects created in response to community demand, such as our evening classes, or through our partners in Hextable Dance and with Creating for Success.
